Dunedin Central supp’ly: 1908: 7 Young St, residential 1908 Post Office directory: journalist, Ferguson St, St Kilda, Dunedin. 1911, 1914 and 1919 Egmont rolls have him as journalist of Manaia. Living at Patukupa St, Manaia from 1911 to about 1920 and at 37 Joseph St Palmerston North until his death in 1923. 1922 Palm Nth general roll has him at 37 Joseph St, no occupation.

Served his apprenticeship in journalism with the Daily News in Britain. After retirement from St Patrick’s school in 1891 due to ill health. He edited the Tuapeka Times until 1893. [He stood for the Tuapeka electorate in 1893 election – MPringle]. He remained in journalism until his death in 1928. At one time he was a member of the Parliamentary Press gallery, and later proprietor of the Waimate Witness. In 1898 he published in the Tuapeka Times a series of articles reviewing country government. (source: Rombouts, Michael)
